This image demonstrates our ability to collect highly accurate and dense geometry data from full-body subjects, with corresponding RGB texture maps for any objects that are visible in frame.
Unlike systems using stereopsis, time of flight (TOF), structured light, or pixel flow analysis, the Photon-X Volumetric Motion Capture (VMC) sensor allows the passive collection of volumetric data and RGB values from a single lens. This data is locked together on-capture and does not require post processing to “remarry” the color texture map to the geometry mesh.
The result is an optically based system that provides RGB textures, normals, geometry, and motion analysis for every frame recorded. This wealth of data enables a single camera equipped with our sensor to act as a 3D scanner, a marker-less motion capture device, and a traditional RGB camera all at the same time.
