FPGA Development Engineer

As a member of the Engineering Hardware staff, the FPGA Design Engineer works within a design team to drive development of new products, with an emphasis on firmware design. The FPGA Engineer uses design tools and hardware description language (HDL) tools to deliver creative design solutions. The FPGA Engineer is responsible for generating documentation suitable to the product, including schematics, design artifacts, and testing results. Responsible for all aspects of software design, implementation and maintenance for embedded products within new camera systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • * Design and test Advanced Verilog or VHDL modules.
  • * Develop and maintain test benches.
  • * Perform FPGA synthesis and timing analysis.
  • * Debug and test hardware designs.
  • * Participate in all phases of hardware development life cycle for the project.
  • * Development and testing of FPGA interface for signal processing.
  • * Develop firmware and system tests to validate FPGA interface prior to wider deployment.
  • * Interface with design engineers, verification engineers, firmware engineers, and product engineers to hit prototyping milestones prior to design tape out.
  • * Assist in controller silicon debug/characterization/qualification.
  • * Maintain and enhance application software for highly complex systems or portions of large integrated systems that require signals collection, detection, demodulation, geolocation, and emitter identification modifications.
  • * Add functionality and maintain existing VHDL signal processing code.
  • * Maintain C++ API to interface with FPGA processors and develop test code to exercise and evaluate processing system.


Required Qualifications

  • * B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
  • * 3-5 years experience with programming, veri log, and VHDL.
  • * Solid people skills and the ability to communicate well in written, spoken, and presentation forms.
  • * The ability to work independently or in a group environment.
  • * Some camera experience preferred.
  • * Ability to obtain U.S. secret clearance.
