As a member of the Engineering Hardware staff, the Mechanical Engineer works within a design team to drive development of new products, with a strong emphasis on opto-mechanical design. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the design, integration and test of various mechanical sub-systems. Requires complete understanding and extensive application of technical expertise in the mechanical engineering field with full knowledge of all other related disciplines. Familiarity with the CAD modeling tools and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods is strongly desired. Position will require frequent interaction with design team on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.


Key Responsibilities

  • * Produce engineering products that are production-ready and meet customer and fabrication/assembly shop requirements.
  • * Provide complete mechanical and structural designs for steel, aluminum and plastic parts.
  • * Creation, modification, and documentation of mechanical designs.
  • * Creation and modification of engineering drawings/models using Solid Edge.
  • * Experience with 3D modeling software with Solid Edge.

 

Required Qualifications

  • * B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • * 2-3 years experience with opto-mechanical a plus.
  • * Solid people skills and the ability to communicate well in written, spoken, and presentation forms.
  • * The ability to work independently or in a group environment.
  • * Ability to obtain U.S. secret clearance.
